President's Message

Welcome to the Iowa Chapter of the Appraisal Institute

On behalf of the leadership at the Iowa Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to visit this website! Please make it a bookmark, as it provides much information including dates for classes and seminars, Chapter meetings, Board of Director meetings, and other activities. Our thanks are extended to our Executive Director Wayne Hennessey and his wife Sonja Hennessey for all of their dedication and hard work in making this Chapter a success!

As one of 91 chapters throughout the World, the Iowa Chapter of the Appraisal Institute strives to provide its members with education and services that enable them to achieve their personal and business objectives. The Iowa Chapter has over 200 members located throughout the State with professional experience in all types of real estate. Many of these individuals are recipients of the Institute’s SRA and/or the MAI professional designations. For those of you looking for an appraiser, please click on the “Find an Appraiser” link on the left hand side of the website to locate an appraiser who can best respond to your questions and needs

Our Chapter’s success is dependent on the contribution of member volunteers. Our efforts are only as good as the input received from members/volunteers, so please feel free to contact me with ideas or questions/concerns. In my years of involvement with the Chapter, I have experienced first-hand one of the most apparent rewards of membership; that those who step forward and become involved in Chapter activities reap the benefits of this commitment in many ways.

Last but not least, I want to briefly address some upcoming changes to be seen in the Appraisal Institute. During the last two years, the Appraisal Institute has been evaluating the challenges related to its future as our designated membership matures. There is good news looking ahead to 2012, as our national leadership has proposed (and now adopted) changes that will further encourage non-designated members to achieve his or her designations. Additionally, in 2010, the Appraisal Institute Board of Directors announced a new strategic vision for the organization that will implement a major transformation by 2016. The proposed changes, which were passed at the vote in December, will move the organization from its present professional association business model to a professional society business model. There are challenges that lie ahead for sure, but as we move forward, we must keep our eye on the goal and work together to maintain the strong reputation and quality that for so long has been associated with this great organization.

Thank you for your time, and also for the opportunity to serve as the 2012 President of the Iowa Chapter.

Sincerely,

Rochelle Dietiker, MAI
